Preview files, including HTML and Word attachments

Open a file inside Edworking to review its contents alongside the work it belongs to. Supported formats can display an inline preview; other files may need to be downloaded.

Open a preview

  1. Open Files in the relevant space, or open an attachment from its task or conversation.
  2. Select the file to open the viewer.
  3. Review the content using the controls available for that format.
  4. Use the download option if the viewer cannot display the file or you need its original application.

Common preview types include images, video, PDFs, text and Markdown. File cards also show thumbnails for supported formats, making similar filenames easier to distinguish.

HTML files

An HTML attachment can render its page content in the file viewer, including supported shared-file views. This is useful for a self-contained mockup or report.

The viewer displays the uploaded file. It does not publish a website, start a server or supply a missing application environment. External styles, scripts or other dependencies may produce a different result. Prefer a self-contained export for a portable preview.

Word files

Supported Word attachments can be previewed, with a download fallback when the preview cannot be displayed. Previewing keeps the file as an attachment.

To continue editing the content collaboratively, use Docs → Import Doc to convert a supported .docx file into an Edworking Doc, then review the conversion.

If a preview fails

Check your access, connection and file format. Download the original when needed; an unavailable preview does not necessarily mean the file is lost. For a public link, verify sharing separately in a signed-out window.
