Collaborative Editing in Edworking Docs and Task Descriptions

Teammates can edit the same Doc or task description together. Shared editor content keeps the brief in one place and shows other collaborators' cursors and selections when they are connected.

Edit a document together

  1. Open Docs and select the document.
  2. Make sure each collaborator belongs to the relevant space and has permission to edit.
  3. Ask teammates to open the same document through its internal link.
  4. Write and format the content. Use labelled cursors to see where someone else is working.
  5. Use headings and separate blocks to divide longer sections between contributors.

The + or / menu adds blocks such as lists, tables and media. Changes save and synchronise automatically while connected.

Work on a task description

Open the task and its description. The same block-based editing approach lets you maintain instructions, acceptance criteria and supporting content together. Use task chat for discussion, and put the agreed outcome into the description.

A checklist in a description is different from the task's Subtasks area. Use subtasks when work needs separate tracking.

Review larger changes

Coordinate before replacing a large section or applying an AI rewrite. Real-time synchronisation does not prevent a person from intentionally removing useful content.

On Business, version history lets you preview earlier saved editor content and restore it when appropriate. The history covers document content and task descriptions, rather than every task field or conversation.

If edits do not appear

Check that everyone has opened the same item and has an active connection and the required access. Allow saving to finish. Preserve any unsaved text before refreshing the page.

Public sharing is separate from collaborative editing: sending a public link should not be treated as granting editor access.
