How to Share Media Files Publicly on Edworking

Public sharing gives someone outside your workspace access to a selected file through a link. Use it only for files you intend to make available to anyone who receives that link.

  1. Open Files, choose the correct space and open the file you want to share.
  2. Open the file's menu and choose Share.
  3. In Share to Public, review the file and enable Public sharing.
  4. Select Copy Link, then close the sharing dialog.
  5. Open the link in a signed-out or private browser window to check what a recipient can see before sending it.

An internal Edworking URL and a public sharing link have different access behaviour. Use the link generated by the sharing dialog for external recipients.

What recipients can do

The public page may preview the file and provide download controls, depending on its type and supported viewer. Images, PDFs and other supported files can have different viewing behaviour. If a preview is unavailable, use the download option shown on the page.

Public HTML previews display the uploaded file; they do not publish a full application or provide its missing server environment.

Stop sharing

Return to the same file's Share controls and turn public sharing off. Test the old link in a signed-out window to confirm that access has stopped.

Revoking a link cannot remove copies that someone has already downloaded or copied. Check for private details before enabling public access.

Confirm that public sharing is enabled, that you copied the public link and that the file still exists. Check any plan or permission message shown in the sharing dialog.
